TUBERCULOSIS
No One Gets TB Anymore, Do They?
- YES! … Globally, at least one person is infected with TB per second, and someone dies of TB every ten seconds. Tuberculosis contributed the death of more than 3 million individuals in 2000. HIV and TB co-infection causes more deaths that any other infectious agent in the world today. It kills 100,000 children each year. One-third of the world's population is infected with TB. It is estimated that between now and the year 2020, nearly one billion more people will be infected, 200 million people will get sick, and 70 million will die from TB, if control is not strengthened.
