Advantages:

  • Safe medical procedure

Disadvantages:

  • Risks of surgery, including: reaction to anesthetic, bleeding and infection
  • Temporary bruising, swelling, tenderness of the scrotum
  • Some individuals later regret decision
  • Reversal requires surgery, is very expensive and may not be successful
  • Does not reduce risk for HIV/AIDS or STDs
