Why do we allow for religious exemptions? They allow us to strike a balance among respect for the genuine convictions of some families, the desire to allow all children access to public schools, and the desire to protect all residents of our community from infectious diseases.
Don't exemptions put my child in danger? As long as the proportion of children in a school who receive exemptions is low, it is still possible to attain high overall coverage and protect all the children in the school.
