CHEERS for Peers

CHEERS for Peers is a 13 week HIV & AIDS cirriculum to prepare people living with HIV & AIDS to become Peer Educators.The cirriculum provides the basic tools and knowledge a Peer Educator needs to provide effective HIV education, prevention messages, and peer support in the community. It is available in English and Spanish.

- Primary Care of the HIV+ Patient
- The Importance of Adherence and How to Avoid Resistance to Medication
- The UIltimate HAART Lecture
- What I Need to Know About Opportunistic Infections
- Mental Health and Substance Abuse issues in the HIV+ Person
- Why Nutrition is so Important
- Tuberculosis and Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Basic Concepts about HIV and Hepatitis
- HIPAA, Confidentiality, Cultural Competence and the Peer Educator
- Course Review - Take Home
- Final Exam
