What is Mom Care? Mom Care is a special health insurance program for low income women. The goal is to improve birth outcomes and reduce infant mortality rates through a simplified application for Medicaid for pregnant women. The program includes guidance, education and care coordination services for eligible participants.
Where do I apply for Mom Care? Applications are available at the Orange County Health Department, the Department of Children Families, physicians offices, and other qualifying pregnancy testing centers.
Who is eligible for Mom Care? Anyone who is pregnant and can provide proof of pregnancy, US Citizenship, Florida residency, and meet income eligibility requirements.
Is there a fee for Mom Care? No. Mom Care Services are funded by Medicaid and are free of charge to all eligible participants.
Can I be in Healthy Start and Mom Care? Yes, Mom Care is a Healthy Start program. At your first prenatal visit, you will receive information about the Healthy Start Screening Form to assess risk factors during your pregnancy. Please complete this form when you visit your provider for prenatal care. If you are eligible for Healthy Start services a Healthy Start Care Coordinator will contact you.
