Center for HIV Education, Empowerment, Research and Support (CHEERS)

The Center for HIV Education, Empowerment, Research and Support (CHEERS) provides HIV medication adherence education as well as counseling and peer support to people living with HIV & AIDS in the community. 

Recognizing the complexity of the disease and the importance of patient readiness and optimal adherence to antiretroviral medications is a key process in the prevention of the development of resistance to current medications and the loss of future treatment options.

The program works hand-in-hand with the Orange County Health Department Immunology clinic staff providing a comprehensive and integrated model of HIV care that includes:

• Nursing Services
• Pharmacy Services
• ADAP Eligibility Determination
• HIV Case Management
• Peer support
• HIV Education and Adherence Counseling
• Substance Abuse Counseling
