cheers logoThe Center for HIV Education, Empowerment, Research and Support (CHEERS) provides HIV medication adherence education as well as counseling and peer support to people living with HIV & AIDS in the community.

Recognizing the complexity of the disease and the importance of patient readiness and optimal adherence to antiretroviral medications is a key process in the prevention of the development of resistance to current medications and the loss of future treatment options.

The program works hand-in-hand with the Orange County Health Department Immunology clinic staff providing a comprehensive and integrated model of HIV care that includes:

  • HIV Medical and Primary Care Services
  • Mental Health Services
  • Nutritional Services
  • Nursing Services
  • Pharmacy Services
  • ADAP Eligibility Determination
  • HIV Case Management
  • Peer support
  • HIV Education and Adherence Counseling
  • Substance Abuse Counseling
  • HIV Testing and Counseling
