The Office of Vital Statistics holds official records for births in the State of Florida and deaths in Orange County.
The Orange County Health Department’s Vital Statistics Office does not process marriage licenses, divorce, probate, wills, or social security cards.
These records are essential for just administration of our law and for the protection of individual rights. In addition, the statistical data from these records are of great value to public health and other agencies. You may need certified copies of these records to:
- Obtain a Passport
- Enroll in School
- Participate in Sports
- Apply for Food Stamps, Housing, or WIC benefits
- Enter Military Service
- Obtain Veterans Benefits
- Apply for Social Security Benefits
- Obtain a Driver's License
- Collect Death Benefits or Life Insurance
- Take control of Family Assets such as bank accounts, pension funds, and other property (like homes or automobiles) that are held in the name of the deceased person
- Probate a Will
- Complete a Final Tax Return
