Yellow Fever

yellow feverYellow Fever is a viral disease that is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito. There are two types of Yellow Fever: Jungle Yellow Fever and Urban Yellow Fever. Most cases of Yellow Fever are Urban Yellow Fever. Most infections are mild but some can be life-threatening.

Yellow Fever got it's name because it was known to cause jaundice, a yellowing of the skin and eyes.

There is a no cure for Yellow Fever, however, it can be prevented through vaccination. The vaccine is recommended for people visiting areas where Yellow Fever occurs.

Signs & Symptoms: begin 3-6 days after infection.
