Physical Distractons are those that cause us to take our hands off the wheel, bringing out focus and energy to another activity inside the car.

Examples: eating, dancing, giving high fives, reaching, searching for items, passengers, studying.

Mental Distractons divert a driver's mind off the road. The driver is not fully alert and aware of theirr driving environment.

Examples: conversations with passengers, daydreaming, stress, anger, worry, excitement, or other emotions.
