Dry Foods

Dry foods are susceptible to insect contamination and moisture and must be properly packaged and stored immediately.
Store dry foods covered in dry, cool, and dark cupboards. Mark foods with purchase dates and use in the order purchased to help assure the highest, freshest quality products.
- Keep dry foods away from heat, moisture, light and vermin (yes, those creepy-crawlies like weevils and mice).
- Never store food on top of your refrigerator or above your oven.
- Store all dried foods in airtight containers. Plastic containers with sealable lids or glass jars work well.
- Use a container size that provides adequate space but not excess air space.
