Your Birth Certificate…You Never Know When You Will Need It!
Many people don’t have a certified copy of their birth certificate. You may have a hospital issued record of birth with your footprints on it or a plain paper copy, but neither of these are recognized as an official certified birth certificate. A computer-generated certificate that contains the State File Number is accepted as the official certification of birth and recognized as such by all agencies.
A certified copy of your birth certificate is needed for many things: obtaining a driver’s license and passport, applying for social security and social service benefits, and entering school or the military.
Certified Birth and Death Certificates are available through the Orange County Health Department Vital Statistics Office.
- Birth Certificates for all Florida births from 1930 to the present
- Computer copy of Birth Certificate is $14.00 for each certified copy
- Additional computer copies for same person are $14.00 each
- Birth Certificates for Orange County births from 2006 to the present (Orange County only)
- Photo copy of Birth Certificates (Orange County only) is $20.00 for each certified copy
- Additional photo copies for same person are $8.00 each
- Death Certificates for Orange County deaths from 2006 to the present
- Death certificates are $10.00 for each certified copy
- Additional copies for same person is $5.00
- Plastic protective sleeves are available for $4.00
- Rush orders are an additional $10.00
Only parents, legal guardians, or the person whose name appears on the certificates, if they are at least 18 years of age can receive the birth certificate.
You may use one of four secure, convenient, and fast ways to acquire a birth certificate:
• IN PERSON - same day service usually available from all locations. Any of the following are required for identification: valid State Driver's license, ID Card, Passport, or Military ID.
