Requirements for NEW Onsite Sewage Treatment & Disposal Systems (OSTDS)
Applicants for OSTDS permit are required to provide the following documentation with their application.
- Application must be signed by the property owner or an attached statement from the owner
assigning authority for an agent or representative to act on the owner’s behalf in all
aspects of an application for septic system.
- A copy of the legal description or survey for confirmation of property dimensions including
date of subdivision or date of property, platted and recorded.
- A site plan drawn to scale is to include:
- Boundaries with dimensions.
- Locations of any existing or proposed residences or buildings.
- Swimming pools.
- Recorded easements.
- Septic system components, with specific configuration, size and location including shoulders and
slope areas if applicable.
- The slope of the property (cross section of drain field configuration in sloped drains.
- Existing and proposed wells.
- Potable and non-potable
- Drainage features including storm sewer pipes and groundwater interceptor drains.
- Filled areas.
- Obstructed areas – driveways, walkways, etc.
- Surface waters including retention, detention and swale areas – design high-water lines
and
designation of being either wet or dry.
- Location of wells, OSTDS, surface waters and other permanent facilities or features on contiguous or
adjacent property.
- Location of any public drinking water well within 200 feet of the property.
- A floor plan delineating number of bedrooms and square footage of building area excluding
garages, carports, screened patios or decks.
- An application for OSTDS operating permit for areas zoned C-3 or Industrial/Manufacturing a
nd a Business Survey Form for each business establishment utilizing an OSTDS.
- Per Chapter 37, Article XVII, Orange County Ordinance, Section 37-540(b), OSTDS design by
engineer, if applicable.
- Per Article XVII, Section 37-542, a variance from Orange County Ordinance provisions,
if applicable.
- Per Orange County Ordinance, flood plain permit, if applicable, issued by Orange County
