The Orange County Health Department's Division of Environmental Health is part of the State of Florida Department of Health.

The environmental health program is responsible for monitoring conditions within the community that could present a threat to health and safety of the public.  Through a staff of trained professionals working throughout the community each day, the environmental health program has a significant role in monitoring the health status of the community and controlling those problems that may affect health.

Environmental specialists are assigned responsibilities in a variety of environmental program areas ranging from water quality protection, wastewater treatment and disposal, solid and hazardous waste management, institutional sanitation and safety to community sanitation programs such as rabies surveillance and sanitary nuisance abatement.
